Developing the Young Workforce (DYW)

Developing our young workforce (DYW) - Belinda Beecroft

As part of the Scottish Government strategy to improve the outcomes for all young people, we work with local employers and Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to ensure our young people have the relevant skills for learning, life and work.

Both in Primary and Secondary, we are supported by a variety of amazing local businesses who give up their time and expertise to inform our young people of the possible careers options and enhance our subject learning. Some employers also support us in work experience placements which is greatly appreciated by our S4 pupils.

Throughout the year, we will offer our pupils the opportunity to attend and take part in events such as career fairs, STEM workshops (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), Social Enterprise schemes and life skills lessons which all work towards those vital skills for future education and employment. More information on these events will show on our news page of the website and our Twitter feed.

Working with Skills Development Scotland (SDS)

During the Secondary years at school, our pupils will be introduced to their SDS career adviser, Gail Sinclair. In particular, S3 and S4 pupils will be guided on career possibilities and pathways within an ever-changing job market. She will work closely with our pupils and the school to ensure that they receive the best possible advice and guidance as to their next steps.
