P3 attended a Chinese New Year workshop in the hall this morning. They had a fantastic time learning all about the Chinese calendar. They all learned how to say ‘hello’ and ‘Happy New Year’ in Chinese and got to practice using chopsticks. Ro’Ro played some beautiful Chinese music for the class to listen to, and a few pupils got to try it for themselves. They all then got to make a Chinese lantern and dance along to the music! Thank you so much to Ro’Ro for coming in to do this, it was a brilliant experience for the class!

P3 have had a very busy week doing reading activities for reading schools week. Tuesday was ‘drop everything and read’ day during which they had 4 opportunities to stop working and read for 5 minutes. Miss Shea also read a few stories to the class during these times. On Wednesday P3 buddied up with P6MC to read some of their favourite books. Pupils in P6MC read to P3 pupils and some P3’s read to their P6 buddy. Some pupils even managed to read a book they had never read before! P6MC then had a story read to them by Miss Shea and P3 had a story read to them by Mrs Cardew. It was a wonderful experience for all the children! Mrs Radford and Mrs Sherriffs visited P3 to talk about a book called ‘Sitka Spruce’ which focuses on the many lives of trees and the uses of wood. On Thursday when Mrs Sherriffs and Mrs Radford returned to P3, they gave each pupil a copy of Sitka Spruce to keep! They also watched the animation of a new story by the same author. Primary 3 have had a wonderful week celebrating reading!

Primary 3 had a visit from local police officers back in November. They kindly answered everyone's questions and helped the class understand their role within the community. This was a great experience for Primary 3 and they all loved hearing about the job of a police officer. A few lucky ones also got the chance to try on their uniform! A big thank you to the officers who gave up their morning to come and speak to us!

Primary 3 have been making 3D Christmas characters out of coloured paper this week. There have been Santas, elves, snowmen and reindeer made! They used their creativity skill when they were making these, which we have been learning about this week, as well as their focusing skill.

Today, Max, Iustin and Vansh worked hard to build a model of houses and trees. They worked well together to build it and their completed model looks fantastic! Well done :)

This week, Primary 3 have been learning about the story of Bonfire night. They have learned about Guy Fawkes’s gunpowder plot and the reason behind why we celebrate with fireworks, sparklers and bonfires on the 5th of November. They also made some fireworks of their own to celebrate the day – and they all looked amazing!

Last week, Primary 3 made some 3D pumpkins to celebrate Halloween! Everyone worked really hard and decorated their pumpkin in their own way, making them all beautifully unique.

This week, Primary 3 have been working hard to learn how to multiply and divide, using blocks to help them. When they were multiplying, the blocks helped them count up the total number to find the answer. When they were dividing, by splitting the total number into groups, they were able to see how many were in each group to find their answer. Everyone enjoyed using the blocks in our maths lessons and have done brilliantly with learning how to multiply and divide!
