Music

During class music time at Pitlochry High School, all pupils are given the opportunity to sing and play tuned percussion instruments, keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drum kit.  Pupils who already play other instruments are encouraged to play them in our group performing sessions.

Towards the end of S1 pupils decide which two instruments they wish to study in S2 or, indeed, carry on into National 3, National 4 or National 5.

The Music department benefits from instrumental instruction in brass, woodwind, strings, drum kit, piano, guitar and vocals.  Most pupils who wish instruction will be given this opportunity subject to availability of instruments.  These lessons are free of charge to those pupils doing certificate music in S4 and those pupils on Income Support.

Extra-curricular music is a prominent feature in Pitlochry High School.  There is an orchestra and a ceilidh band.  All pupils are encouraged to take part in our music and drama productions.
