Science

All pupils in S1 and S2 follow the integrated science course (using the Starting Science book as a textbook).  The S1 Science course follows the new Curriculum for Excellence outcomes.  Pupils carry out a range of practical work and are required to develop reporting skills and investigative skills.

The Science department has various visitors throughout the year covering topics such as Forensic Science and Recycling. 

In addition pupils get the opportunity to obtain the John Muir Award which involves a residential stay at an outdoor centre, learning about their environment, outdoor activities and conservation work.

The course is aimed to prepare pupils to develop their skills in the sciences so that they are able to be successful beyond S2.
