90kg Rice Challenge

Primary 5/6 in Pitlochry High School will be attempting to sell 90 bags of rice to complete this challenge.

By participating in this challenge our pupils, and school, will be involved in Global Citizenship, Social Enterprise and Fairtrade Awareness.

High school education in Malawi is not free, less than 1 in 3 children are able to attend due to the cost. It takes just 90kg of Kilombero rice for a smallholder farmer to have sufficient funds to send one of their children to high school for a year. Help Malawian farmers and their families work their way out of poverty!

Selling 90kg of rice will enable one secondary age pupil in Malawi to go to school.

The price is £3 per bag.  Order forms can be obtained from P5/6 or from Mrs Reid in Primary.
